Links with Industry The campus hosts a number of its applied research activities in the areas of mechanical engineering, physical sciences, electronic engineering, chemical engineering, occupational health and petroleum geology and geophysics. Commercial enterprises include businesses involved in materials engineering, biotechnology, environmental services, information technology, industrial design, laser/optics technology, health products, engineering services, radar systems, telecommunications and petroleum services. The criteria for occupancy are based upon a tenant's ability to enter a useful association with the University of Adelaide. This may involve participation in cooperative education and postgraduate student programs, joint research activities with members of the University staff and provision of work experience to students. In turn, tenants are encouraged to utilise University facilities and expertise. In addition to establishing lasting partnerships with industry tenants, the campus provides a physical and program base for developing student projects and student skills into new business enterprises as part of the Graduate Entrepreneurial Program. The program assists graduates - with an innovative idea for a product, process or service - to commence a business, or links graduates with small to medium companies to develop innovative ideas. |
