Yoga and Mind-Body Awareness
There are many forms and aspects of yoga. These sessions will focus particularly on yoga as a path for deepening awareness of mind-body connections. Participants can expect to learn some simple routines they can practice at home, and to develop skills which can be used for relaxing, recharging and enhancing achievement of personal goals. The sessions will involve some physical exercise, stretching, breathing and meditation.
Sessions are free but bookings are essential.

Meditation Level 1: Concentration and Calm
Meditation is an ancient skill that can be learnt in modern times. Traditionally meditation was used to overcome mental suffering, and is now being used to overcome stress, anxiety and depression. You will learm meditation methods that cultivate concentration and calm; you will also learn how to use meditation to cultivate healthy feelings and mind states. I invite you to come along and discover how meditation can benefit your life.

Conscious Breathing Workshop
Using the breath as an aid to managing stress, anxiety or depression. Although we all breathe everyday, the breath itself usually goes unnoticed. This workshop draws on yoga and Western psychology to explore the ways that the breath can be used as a remarkably powerful mind-body link. It can be used to help manage stress, anxiety or depression, and also to enhance concentration, relaxation and stamina.

A bit of stress at exam time can help you be motivated and perform better but too much can make life miserable and send results downhill. This workshop will explore some helpful ways to help reduce the stress of exams so you can prepare more effectively and perform better on the day. It draws together some tried and true ideas compiled over the years by the Student Counselling Centre.
