Gender, Equity and Diversity CommitteeGender, Equity and Diversity Committee
The Gender, Equity and Diversity Committee (GED) takes a proactive and strategic role in progressing the equity and diversity agenda in the University.
About GED
The GED Committee is a sub-committee of the Vice-Chancellor's Committee. It was formed in October 1999 and commenced meeting in March 2000. It has met regularly since that time and has established four University-wide equity priorities for action.
Priorities
University-wide priorities:
- Improving the representation of women in the University, particularly in senior academic and management roles.
- Improving the access, retention, participation and success for Indigenous staff and students.
- Improving all aspects of the University's capacity for working well with staff and students with a disability.
- Improving support, particularly in regard to communication, cultural awareness and social issues for international students.
GED Terms of Reference
The terms of reference for GED are to:
- Establish University-wide gender, equity and diversity goals, clearly linked to the strategic operational and faculty/divisional planning process.
- Consider and make recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor through the Vice-Chancellor's Committee on organisational priorities in relation to equity, diversity and gender.
- Keep the Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor's Committee apprised of relevant changes to national or State legislation and reporting requirements affecting the University.
- Identify accountabilities for the achievement of relevant goals and the implementation of strategies.
