Intercampus library service

Contents:

Who may use the service ?
All registered University of Adelaide users, except for reciprocal borrowers from Flinders University and the University of South Australia, may request the delivery of items required for the purposes of study and research, from libraries located on other campuses of the University.
For example, a student based at the Waite Library may request delivery of items from the Roseworthy Campus and any of the North Terrace Campus libraries (Barr Smith, Law, Elder Music); a student at the Law Library may request delivery of items from the Roseworthy Campus and the Waite Library, but not from the Barr Smith Library or the Elder Music Library.

What may be requested ?
You may request the loan of books, and can order photocopies of articles in journals, that are held in any University of Adelaide campus library.
The following items may not be requested on intercampus loan:
  • Short loan books
  • Reserve collection items
  • Bound volumes and current issues of journals
  • Books that are identified as being On order or In process

How long will it take ?
If an item is readily available on the shelves of its 'home' Library, delivery will normally take three working days.
Journal articles will be emailed direct to the address you nominate on the Intercampus request form. Please check your email before making an enquiry about non-delivery. If we have not notified you about the item after three days from the date you requested it, please email or telephone the supplying library to ask about the status of your request.

What to do first
First check the Library Catalogue. Note the details of the item, especially the location and call number.
If the item is a journal you will also need to check the Library holdings to make sure that we have the actual issue you need.
If the item is located at another campus library your next step depends on whether the item is:

How to make a request

How to request a book which is on loan
  • Make sure the book is on loan -- the Status: line will say 'On loan' and there will be a due date
  • Click on the Requests link and follow the screen instructions. Full details are on a separate web page: How to Request that a book on loan be held for you
  • Change the Pick up at: location box to the Library where you would like to collect the book (Barr Smith, Waite, Law, etc.)
  • A collect notice will be sent to you when the item is returned from loan
  • You may then pick up the book from the Loans desk you nominated in the Pick up at: location box
