How to play the recordings?

Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP / Vista

To play the recordings you will need Windows Media Player. The latest version for your operating system can be downloaded here:

Windows Media Player Download
(this link should detect and offer the correct player for your operating system)

HELP, I still can't play the audio or video?

If you already have Windows Media Player installed, but can not play the recordings try the following:

  1. Be patient, it may take a minute or two to play the first time you click the link.

  2. If the player seems to be playing but there is no sound, check that your system volume is not muted and your speakers are turned on.

  3. Check that the windows media player volume is not muted.

  4. If the player reports an error and will not open the file, download the version of the player from the links above, reinstall and restart you computer. To do this, click on the link for your operating system, save the file to your desktop, once the file has downloaded, double click the file and follow the prompts. Then restart your computer and try playing the video again.

  5. If the file still doesn't play, close your browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox etc) and re-open it, try the link again.

  6. Finally, try restarting your computer and try the link once more.

If you still can not play the media, contact the Helpdesk for MyUni on 8303 3335.

Apple Mac OS X

As Quicktime does not support the authentication utilised to protect the streaming content, Apple Mac users will need to download the recordings from the download links.

To play the downloaded recordings you will need Flip4Mac. This is a plugin, which will allow Quicktime to open most Windows Media files. MyMedia recordings from 2008 onwards should be compatible with this plugin. The latest version can be download from their website:

www.flip4mac.com
(The free version)

Linux

There is not a known linux player which supports the authentication utilised to protect the streaming content, linux users will need to download the recordings from the download links.

MPlayer has been known to play back downloaded Windows Media files. Installation of MPlayer will vary between distributions.
