Respondus

Respondus BB is a software application that enables MyUni Instructors to create a Quiz or Online Assessments on their own computer without being connected to the web. Once you are satisfied with your Quiz you can then upload it seamlessly to your MyUni course for students to use.

Instructions for how you can obtain a copy of Respondus for Blackboard can be found here. You will need to authenticate (same username/password combination that you use to access staff email/MyUni) before accessing this material

Respondus Assessment Tool (Staff Access Only)

MapleTA

Maple T.A. is a web-based teaching and assessment tool which allows online testing and assessment of mathematically and scientifically oriented material. It is currently enabled at the University of Adelaide as a plug-in to MyUni, and as such is available for use in any course.

For more information, contact Judi Baron (Centre for Learning and Professional Development), or  Paul McCann (School of Mathematical Sciences).

Notes, FAQ and Information

Wikis

A wiki is a website where multiple people can quickly and easily collaborate on a  project, document or any kind of information. Wikis also maintain a complete version history of changes and who made them. One of the best-known wiki sites and a good example to introduce the concept of a wiki is Wikipedia – the free encyclopaedia that anyone can edit. Wikipedia is a body of knowledge built and maintained by anyone who chooses to contribute. Anyone can edit an article, create new articles and also view the version history of how those articles have evolved.

Turnitin

Turnitin is a totally web-based tool which provides an online plagiarism prevention service for both educators and learners. Whilst effective to help identify suspected individual cases of plagiarism, or as a deterrent, Turnitin plagiarism prevention is even more effective when used as an educational tool. Digital versions of papers submitted to the Turnitin web site are compared against billions of documents online, including Turnitin's local databases of submitted student papers. Any matching text is detailed in an Originality Report which includes direct source comparison. The decision on whether or not the work is plagiarised still needs to be made by the educator, and only after careful examination of both the submitted paper and the suspect sources.
