Apply for a place in either: Architectural Engineering, Sports Engineering or Sustainable Energy Engineering. Each program has the prerequisite of SACE Stage 2 Mathematical Studies plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Specialist Mathematics. Whilst in the program, complete the courses deemed equivalent to Specialist Mathematics, which currently stands as Mathematics 1MA. Upon completion of this course and other courses, apply for a place in your ideal program. You are advised to obtain a high GPA as transfer is based on your results. As each individual’s circumstances are different, students are advised to consult the Faculty Office when enrolling into courses and applying for transfer. |
Enrol in to the Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Science. Whilst in the program, complete the courses equivalent to Specialist Mathematics, which currently stands as Mathematics 1MA. Enrol in the Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Science, Bachelor Computer Science or Bachelor of Science program. Whilst in this program complete the required courses and aim for a GPA of 65 or higher. You are required to obtain a very competitive GPA to ensure you can transfer. One advantage of this is that good students generally continue in a double degree program so there is no disadvantage in the time taken to complete studies.
The Maths Learning Centre offers two courses that are deemed equivalent to SACE Stage 2 Mathematical Studies:
For more information contact the Maths Learning Centre on (08) 8303 5862.
In the event of this you are advised to consult the Faculty Office on (08) 8303 6476, as there are many alternative pathways.
For example, students who are concerned that they may not be offered a place in the Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering should consider adding the Bachelor of Civil and Structural Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering or Architectural Engineering to their SATAC preferences, so that they can potentially be offered places in those programs instead.
Within each Engineering School the first two years of each program are virtually identical. This consistency allows students to enrol into similar courses, and thus transfer into their ideal program and receive credit for courses previously completed. This method also allows for transfer with minimum penalty.
After completion of courses and obtaining a competitive GPA students should apply for transfer into their ideal program.
As another example, students wishing to enrol into Aerospace Engineering but not made an offer could enrol into the Bachelor of Mechanical, Mechatronic, Automotive, Sustainable Energy or Sports Engineering if they have listed these in their SATAC preferences. As these programs are from the same School as Aerospace Engineering they have virtually identical first and second years. This allows students to complete similar courses, obtain a competitive GPA and apply for transfer into their ideal program.
Please note that this pathway does not always achieve desired results. As each individual’s circumstances are different, students are advised to consult the Faculty Office when enrolling into courses and applying for transfer.
Students are required to meet the prerequisite criteria for the program and additionally:
Students who have some (or even completed) tertiary studies will be eligible to be considered on the basis of their TER or GPA, whichever is the better of the two.
Students who have some (or have even completed) tertiary studies will be eligible to be considered on the basis of their TER or GPA, whichever is the better of the two.
