Graduate Certificate in Mathematical Signal and Information Processing

The Graduate Certificate is designed to give students important skills in key areas of signal processing such as mobile communications, signal analysis, multisensor data fusion, linear systems, adaptive signal processing and image analysis.
Some courses such as Detection, Estimation and Classification, and Signal Synthesis and Analysis are highly mathematical in theory, whereas courses such as Satellite Communications and Mobile Communications have a more practical emphasis. Courses such as Adaptive Signal Processing and Beamforming and Array Processing have a strong engineering emphasis.
The Graduate Certificate is focussed on telecommunications and signal processing, is very challenging and assumes a strong background in maths and/or engineering and/or physical sciences.
Students completing these programs can enhance their career opportunities in research areas such as defence, telecommunications, medical image analysis and computer systems.
Students of the Graduate Certificate are required to complete 12 units of coursework.

Candidates must choose courses to the value of 12 units selected from:
Honours and other relevant courses offered by the the University of Adelaide or other tertiary institutions in South Australia as may be approved by the Board of Studies. Note: Prospective students should consult the relevant school early in the year in which they plan to study in order to ascertain whether particular courses will be available in that year, which semester they will be taught and their precise content. On completion of this degree students will have enhanced employment prospects as research scientists and/or engineers in defence, telecommunications, medical image analysis and computer systems industries.
