Why Study at Adelaide?Since its establishment in 1874, studying at the University of Adelaide has meant being part of a rich tradition of excellence in education and research, with world class academics and a vibrant student life. The third-oldest university in Australia, the University of Adelaide became the first Australian university (and also preceded English institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge) to admit women to academic courses in 1881. Adelaide was also the first Australian university to grant degrees in Science and establish a Conservatorium of Music. Since its foundation the University has produced 100 Rhodes Scholars, and is now known internationally for the quality of its programs and its high-calibre graduates, as well as having been acknowledged with high ratings in successive editions of Australia's Good Universities Guide. Grand old buildings and historical environs combined with modern research and teaching facilities provide an exceptional learning atmosphere in which students can achieve their best. We have a strong commitment to meeting the highest intellectual and ethical standards in teaching and learning, research and research training, and to producing graduates recognised worldwide for their creativity, knowledge and skills, as well as their culture and tolerance. Our high-calibre graduates have skills that go beyond the workplace and make an impact on the world. Life Impact. For more information on the University's values, history, vision, research activities, achievements and campus life see the 'About the University' website, visit us on Open Day or take a virtual tour of the University of Adelaide. |
