Assessments & Grading

At the beginning of each course your lecturer will discuss assessment requirements with you. This may include continuous assessment (eg, written work, tests, participation) and/or a final exam.

Tertiary students are expected to assess and critically think about issues rather than simply repeat learned information. To do well, you will need to consult different sources of information and evaluate from a critical perspective. For many students this is another new skill, which takes time to develop. If you experience difficulties, take time to talk to your tutors/lecturers to find out where you can improve.

Overall, university can be one of the most exciting periods of your life. As well as preparing you for a rewarding career, it will help you to analyse, understand and hopefully contribute to the world you live in!
